How do I delete schedules from a planned work template?

You can remove individual schedules or sites from a planned work template without deleting the entire template. This is useful when a schedule is no longer required - for example, if a site has been decommissioned or a particular maintenance task is no longer needed at a specific location.

Important: Removing a schedule from a template does not affect any work orders that have already been generated from that schedule. Those work orders remain in the system as normal.

Before You Start

  • You must have the Planned Work Template Manage permission
  • You should confirm that the schedule is no longer needed before removing it, as this action cannot be undone

Steps

  1. Go to Settings from the main navigation menu.
  2. Select Planned Work Templates from the settings menu.
  3. Find the template that contains the schedule you want to remove. You can use the search bar or scroll through the list.
  4. Click on the template to open it.
  5. Locate the schedule or site you want to remove from the template.
  6. Click the remove (×) button next to the schedule or site record.
  7. A confirmation prompt will appear. Confirm the removal.

What Happens Next

  • The schedule is permanently removed from the template.
  • No further work orders will be generated from that schedule.
  • Any work orders that were previously created from the schedule are not affected - they remain in the system with their full history.
  • The template itself remains active with any other schedules still in place.

Good to Know

  • You can remove individual schedules without affecting other schedules within the same template. There is no need to delete and recreate the entire template.
  • If you need to remove multiple schedules, you can do so one at a time from the same template view.
  • If you remove all schedules from a template, the template will still exist but will not generate any future work orders. You may want to consider deleting the template entirely if it is no longer needed - see How to Delete a Planned Work Template for guidance.
  • This feature is designed to make template management easier without requiring you to rebuild templates from scratch when minor changes are needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will removing a schedule cancel any work orders that have already been created?
No. Work orders that have already been generated are completely independent of the template. Removing a schedule only prevents future work orders from being created.

Can I add the schedule back after removing it?
You would need to add a new schedule to the template manually. The removed schedule cannot be restored, so make sure the removal is intentional before confirming.

Who can remove schedules from a planned work template?
Any user with the Planned Work Template Manage permission can add or remove schedules from templates.
