How do I enable location services on my device?

Troubleshoot Location Services For The Engineer App.

 

If you see the status "Location not supported" your device or browser does not support GPS/location services. To proceed, request a site access code from the site manager.

If you encounter any of the following statuses, please review the troubleshooting steps for your specific device and browser:

  • Location unavailable - System-level location services are disabled, or location data cannot be retrieved

  • Location unknown - Your location cannot be determined

  • Location not enabled - Location services are disabled or permission has not been granted

Turning On Location Services


Android

Note: These steps my vary slightly by manufacturer/OS version

  1. Open Settings

  2. Tap Location

  3. Toggle Use Location ON

  4. Go to App permissions (or Location permissions)

  5. Select your app

  6. Choose Allow only while using the app or Allow all the time

  7. (Optional but recommended) Use precise location

  8. Proceed to the Mobile App steps of Turning On Location Services

On some devices (Samsung, Pixel), this may live under Settings → Security & Privacy → Location.


iOS (iPhone/iPad)

  1. Open Settings

  2. Go to Privacy & Security

  3. Tap Location Services

  4. Toggle Location Services ON

  5. Scroll down, find your app

  6. Set permission to While Using the App or Always

  7. (Optional but recommended) Enable Precise Location

  8. Proceed to the Mobile App steps of Turning On Location Services

Tip: If location was previously denied, users may need to fully close and reopen the app.


Desktop

Chromium (Chrome / Brave / Edge)

  1. To the left of the web address, select View site information

     
    Default (Secure)
  2. Click Site Settings

  3. Find location

  4. Set to Allow

  5. Refresh the page

Alternative path

  • Settings → Privacy & Security → Site Settings → Location

Safari (macOS)

  1. Open Safari

  2. Go to Safari → Settings → Websites

  3. Select Location from the sidebar

  4. Find your website

  5. Set permission to Allow

  6. Refresh the page

System check (important on macOS):

  • System Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → ensure Safari is enabled

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Visit your website

  2. Click the 📍 location icon in the address bar

  3. Select Allow Location Access

  4. Refresh the page


Mobile App

Now that you’ve enabled Location Services for your device you may need to do the same for our site, please follow the outlined steps below for the browser/app you’re using.

Chromium (Chrome / Brave / Edge)

  • Tap the lock icon or info icon (ⓘ) in the address bar

  • Tap Permissions or Site settings

  • Find Location and change it to Allow

  • Refresh the page

Safari (iOS)

  • Tap the AA icon in the address bar (left side on iPhone, center on iPad)

  • Tap Website Settings

  • Under Location, select Allow

  • Refresh the page

Firefox

  • Tap the lock icon in the address bar

  • Tap the > arrow next to the site name

  • Find Location under Permissions

  • Change to Allow

  • Refresh the page

Samsung Internet

  • Tap the lock icon in the address bar

  • Tap Permissions

  • Toggle Location to Allowed

  • Refresh the page
