How do I use the new engineer app?
Use Your Device To Check In To Jobs On Site And Update Work Orders With Time Logs, Start Work Checks And Service Details.
Checking-in
- When you arrive on site, you will see a QR code poster you can scan with your device that will open the engineering app
- From here, you can enter your company name
- Next, enter your name and select it from the list if it appears
- If your name isn't in the list, select name not listed and follow the steps
Login Verification
- If your client has turned on login verification, the app will require you to add a verification method which could be an email or mobile number
- To do this, users can select add verification method and choose which type of method they would like to use, such as email or mobile
- The methods available for selection will depend on how your client has set up the app
- Once selected, enter your details in the form and hit add verification method
- From here, you will be sent a code to your method of choice which you can then enter in the app to continue
- Clients can require that this verification method is approved by a contractor admin before a user can sign in
- If this is the case, contractor admins will be notified of the new verification method that has been added. They can then head to the link in the email, or directly to the contractor profile, to approve this under the manage team section
- In some circumstances, clients may also have enabled verification methods to be added to the app, but not required them. In this instance, users can either add a verification step or choose to skip and head to the work order
Location Verification
Please note - if this feature is enabled, it is important to enable location sharing when prompted in your browser.
- If a client has enabled location verification, users will be required to share their location when asked on the app
- From here, the app will check the location against the geo-fence of the site where you have scanned the QR code
- If the location matches and is verified, user can continue to selecting a work order
- If the location is not verified, users will have to try again
- Should users not share their location within the browser, they may see a message that their location is unavailable, in which case they will again have to select try again
- Some clients will have the site access codes feature enabled alongside this location verification
- This allows users to select the enter site access code option to progress, if they are unable to verify their location
- The code will be available from the client contact at the site
Start work checks
- Sometimes a client will require certain checks be carried out before any work commences
- These checks can be general and hazard specific
- There are three sections to complete in total including an induction, hazard-specific section and the final safe to proceed section
- To start a section, simply click its name and answer the yes/no questions
- Within the hazards section, if any hazards have been pre-identified, you will see them selected and any associated questions they may have
- Within this section, you can also select more hazards if they are identified on the day
- The final section indicated whether it is safe to begin the work. This means all questions within this section must be answered yes in order for you to proceed with the job
- Should any questions be marked as no, the risks and hazards must be remedied and you will need to begin the checks again
Work order View Screen
- The work order view screen will show you details of the work and the site where it is taking place
- Here, you can pause and resume time logs by selecting the manage engineers option
- There are also dedicated tabs for assets and updates, to show you any assets linked to the work order and any important updates or comments
- Further down the page, users will see more Site details including any site documents
Checking Out
- Once you are finished with the work, you can hit check out on the work order
- Should the client have location verification turned on for check out, you will be asked to share you location with the browser if you have not done so already
- If the validation fails, you will need to try again, or, if the client has enabled site access codes, you can enter the code to continue
- Should these features not be enabled, the app will skip to the below steps
- Here, you can select any of the following resolution codes:
- Service completed
- Quote required
- Return visit required
- You can then add any relevant visit notes or attachments
- There will then be the option to end the visit completely, or check in to another work order if there is more work to be done on the same site
