What's New At Expansive This Month?
New Engineer App: Smarter Authentication 👥
We’ve released a complete overhaul of the engineer app used by contractors to access work orders on-site. This update introduces a cleaner, faster interface, along with more robust authentication and admin controls - delivering a more secure and seamless experience for all users.
The app now features a modernised user interface that’s easier to navigate and more responsive for engineers arriving on-site. From logging in to accessing work orders, every interaction has been refined to reduce friction and improve efficiency.
Alongside the visual updates, we've introduced a new set of configurable authentication flags available in Settings. These provide greater flexibility for how engineers validate their access and give admins more control over site entry workflows.
One flag enables login verification, where engineers are prompted to set up an additional validation method - such as email or mobile - which must then be approved by a contractor admin before access is granted. Another flag allows teams to this approval before engineers can proceed to view work orders, adding an extra layer of oversight.
To further support on-site security, location validation has been introduced. Engineers are asked to share their browser location, which is then checked against the site’s geo-fence. If the location check fails, access is restricted and the user can try again. In cases where this happens, site access codes offer a secure backup method. These codes can be shared by an on-site user and regenerate every 30 minutes. They're available from the Site View page under the action wheel.
Finally, location validation on checkout mirrors the same process - requiring engineers to pass the geo-fencing check before completing their visit. This ensures that both entry and exit are securely validated and traceable.

Contractor Management: Smarter Visibility and Easier Oversight 👷
We’ve introduced several improvements to help teams manage contractor information more effectively, making it easier to track history, edit responses, and review documentation without disruption.
First, the Documents & Compliance tab within the contractor view screen has been updated with a new History section. This area is dedicated to displaying previous answers to contractor questions along with any related files. It provides a clear audit trail of past responses, helping users stay informed and aligned when reviewing contractor activity.
In addition to this, admin users now have the ability to directly manage contractor questions within this tab. This means they can amend answers and update associated files as needed—ensuring the most accurate information is always available. All changes are automatically recorded in the new History section, giving teams full visibility into any updates made over time.
Lastly, we’ve improved the process of reviewing contractor profiles by enabling document previews directly in the browser, where supported. This eliminates the need to download files just to view them, helping users review documentation more quickly and securely.
